APSSS: Apertif Polarised Sky Survey

Bjoern Adebahr

The APSSS is using the complete APERTIF bandwidth in full polarisation mode to search for linear and circular polarised sources and investigate their spectra, statistical distribution and variability.

The main science goals are:

  • Polarised source catalogue: Locate linear and circular polarised sources and measure their fluxes using a blind search in the APERTIF Shallow Survey.
  • Synergy with LOFAR polarisation observations: study RM-spectra of sources polarised at LOFAR frequencies in detail and understand their intrinsic and intervening magnetic field characteristics.
  • Variability of linear and circular polarised sources: study polarised sources in the APERTIF Medium Deep Survey for their time variability.
