Proposal submission

Proposals are submitted through the NorthStar online submission tool.

DDT proposals

Director's Discretionary Time proposals can be submitted at any time through the NorthStar online submission tool, and choosing the 'ddt' category.

Commissioning proposals

LOFAR users who want to suggest observing experiments aimed at commissioning a specific aspect of the instrument can apply for ‘commissioning time’.

Commissioning proposals should be prepared and submitted using the NorthStar online submission tool, choosing the 'commissioning' category.

Upon submission, the request will be assessed by R. Pizzo and M. Brentjens, who jointly will decide whether there is room in the schedule for such experiment and whether it warrants reserving a particular amount of Science Operations and Support and Software Support time.

In case of rejection, the proposers can appeal to the Director of the ILT, René Vermeulen (rvermeulen [at] astron [dot] nl).

People who achieve scientific results from commissioning time have to submit their manuscript to the LOFAR Publication Committee for internal refereeing (for more details, see here).
